Firsova Leaving

Leaving by Elena Firsova was a commission by the Internationale Fredener Musiktage, and in it the Russian composer Firsova evokes the memory of her father. This is beautifully portrayed in Krzysztof Smietana’s playing of the solo violin part, which in the composer’s words represents a personal farewell to life. First performed in Freden on August 29. 1999.
